Darcie Steeves Named Next Administrative Director of City of Lakes Waldorf School

City of Lakes Waldorf School is pleased to announce that Darcie Steeves has been selected as the school’s next Administrative Director, beginning in August 2026.

This appointment follows Administrative Director Marti Stewart’s announcement last spring that she will retire at the end of the 2025-26 school year after nearly 25 years of dedicated service to CLWS. Since that time, the Board of Trustees and College of Teachers convened an Administrative Director Search Committee to guide the process of identifying the school’s next leader.

Many members of the CLWS community already know Darcie through her many years of service to the school. She joined the faculty in 2010 and has spent the past sixteen years guiding students and families as a class teacher. She is currently leading her eighth grade class as they prepare for their project presentations, class trip, and graduation this spring.

Reflecting on this new role at a recent All School Meeting, Darcie shared:

“It’s impossible to articulate the honor, excitement, and joy I feel about becoming the next Administrative Director at City of Lakes Waldorf School. I am humbled by the opportunity, and view it as a position of service to all who work here, to each of you, and to the special mission of Waldorf education.”

In addition to her work in the classroom, Darcie has served the school in numerous leadership roles. She has chaired the College of Teachers, served on the Board of Trustees, and contributed to many committees and initiatives supporting the pedagogical and organizational life of the school.

Earlier in her career, Darcie worked in business operations and software consulting at Accenture and served as Administrator for the Novalis Institute, an adult continuing-education initiative based on Waldorf principles. She holds a Waldorf Teaching Certificate from Sunbridge Institute and degrees in Marketing and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Throughout her time at CLWS, Darcie has demonstrated a deep commitment to Waldorf education and to the wellbeing of the students, families, and colleagues who make up the school community. She is widely respected for her thoughtful leadership, collaborative spirit, and her ability to bring people together in service of the school’s mission.

Marti Stewart will continue to serve as Administrative Director through the end of this school year, allowing for a thoughtful and steady transition in the months ahead.

Please join us in congratulating Darcie as she prepares to step into this important role in the life of the school. We are grateful for her willingness to serve the community and look forward to the care and leadership she will bring to CLWS in the years ahead!
